Two people cut out cars following crash on Princess Road

Firefighters rescued two people after they became trapped in their cars following a crash on a major road in Hulme.

All of the occupants were conscious and breathing following the smash between two vehicles on Princess Road on Monday.

A third person was also travelling in one of the cars but they managed to get out before firefighters arrived.

All three were assessed by paramedics at the scene.

It is unclear at this stage whether anyone went to hospital.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called at about 1pm.

The road was closed northbound at Greenheys Lane.

An ambulance spokeswoman said: "We were called at 12.52pm to Princess Road. We attended with a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and an advanced paramedic. There were three people in total at the scene."

A fire service spokesman said: "We were called to Princess Road at 12.50pm to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision.
"We attended and three people were trapped, but they were all conscious and breathing. One person managed to self-rescue, the other two two had to be extracted. We started to cut two people out of their vehicles.

"They were assessed by NWAS."
