Two people have been charged with slavery after a woman was found held against her will in Rochdale.
Officers attended an address in Cranbourne Road, Bamford, on 11 February and found a 28-year-old woman held in domestic servitude.
Minu Chopra, 47, was arrested at the house on 11 February and charged with suspicion of slavery, servitude and forced labour offences under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, police said.
The pair are accused of holding a person in slavery or servitude between 31 July last year up until their arrest.
They are also charged with intentionally arranging or facilitating entry into the UK of a person with a view to exploit them, and knowingly holding a person in slavery or servitude between 1 January 2011 and 31 July 2015.
The woman was removed from the house and is currently being cared for by agencies, Greater Manchester Police added.
Minu Chopra was hauled before Manchester Magistrates’ on 13 February and remanded in custody.
She will next appear at Manchester Minshull St Crown Court on 11 March.
Sanjeev Chopra, also 47 and of the same address, was arrested and charged with the same offences on 13 February.
He will appear before Bury and Rochdale Magistrates’ Court on 15 February.
