Two people arrested after serious assault in Swansea

Armed police were called and a man was taken to hospital in Swansea following a serious assault over the weekend. 

Police attended the scene at Gordon Thomas Close in Waun Wen at around 5.40pm on Saturday, May 2 following reports of the assault.

A man and woman were arrested in connection with this incident and have since been bailed.

There were several reports on social media at the time of a heavy police presence in the area. 

One woman claimed that there were around "eight-nine police cars, ambulance and helicopter" at the scene.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "Armed units attended as a precaution and a man was located with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He is no longer in hospital.

"A 38-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on May 3 in connection with this incident and have been bailed.

"We are appealing for anyone with information about this assault to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence 2000150458."
