Two people arrested after 'pink paint' thrown on Bristol City Hall

A man and a woman have been arrested after pink paint was thrown on Bristol City Hall at around 8am this morning.

The arrests are understood to have followed a small protest carried out under the banner of Burning Pink - a movement calling for action to tackle climate change and the use of citizens' assemblies as a replacement for government, if it fails to act.

A number of 'Burning Pink' posters have been displayed around the city making twelve demands of Bristol City Council, which are 'environmental things that the council needs to do.'

“A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “Police were called to a report of criminal damage at Bristol City Hall just before 8am on Monday 15 February.

“What's described as pink paint had been thrown on the building.

“Two people - a man and a woman - were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage just after 8.15am and remain in police custody at the time of writing. Enquiries continue.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has footage or other information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 5221032744.”
