Two people arrested after man is left with head injury following assault in Walker

Two men have been arrested after an assault in Newcastle.

The victim remains in hospital following the incident in Walker on Thursday evening but police say his injuries are not life threatening.

Emergency services were called to St Anthony's Road at around 6pm and found the man with head injuries who was then taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

An investigation was launched and police have now confirmed that they have arrested two men in connection with the assault.

They are now asking for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 6pm yesterday (Thursday) we received a report that a man had been assaulted on St Anthony’s Road in Walker.

“Emergency services attended and found a man with non-life threatening head injuries. He remains in hospital at this time.

“An investigation is ongoing and two men have been arrested in connection with our enquiries. They remain in police custody and are assisting officers.
