Two people arrested after knife found at Metrolink tram stop

Two people have been arrested after a knife was found at at tram stop in Manchester.

Police found the blade at the Cornbrook Metrolink stop.

Officers have been patrolling the Manchester Airport and Trafford tram lines as part of Operation Sycamore - an operation dedicated to tackling serious violent crime.

In a post on the GMP Wythenshawe Facebook page this morning, police said a knife had been recovered at Cornbrook.

It is unclear at this stage whether it was found on the tram or at the station.

The post read: GMP #TransportUnit officers working #OpSycamore have been targeting the Airport &Trafford lines in a mix of plain clothes &uniform supported by @gmpdogs.

"A knife has been recovered at Cornbrook and two people have been arrested."
