Two people and a dog rescued from flat fire

Three fire crews rescued two people and a pet dog from a fire in Thorneywood on Saturday morning (June 22).

At around 5.50am the crews from London Road and Carlton were called to reports of a kitchen fire inside a flat in Sullivan Close.

The fire service used a hose reel and a high pressure fan to clear the smoke.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "Crews rescued two people and a dog from the flat fire which started in the kitchen.

"We sent two crews from London Road and one from Carlton. The fire was put out at 6.55am."

Nottinghamshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the blaze.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called by the fire service to assist with the evacuation of the flats.

"The fire was caused by an electrical fault on a hob in the kitchen. It was accidental.

"Everyone was able to return to their flats shortly afterwards."
