Two people were airlifted to hospital following a horror road crash on the A82, near Luss, this morning.

Emergency services raced to the smash at around 9am today (Friday). It's believed the collision took place close to Camstraddan House, with six people rushed to hospital.

An eyewitness reported to our sister website, Glasgow Live , that the crash appeared to be 'serious' with 'people trapped' in the vehicles with others saying the road was 'gridlocked' with coaches and HGV's stuck.

Five ambulances, a special operations team, a paramedic response unit, air ambulance and trauma team to were sent to the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS).

An SAS spokesman said: “We received a call today at 8.47am to attend a RTC on the A82 near Luss. We dispatched a number of resources to the scene, including five ambulances, our special operations team, a Paramedic Response Unit, an air ambulance and our trauma team to the scene.

“We airlifted two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and four patients to Royal Alexandra Hospital.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were also drafted in, with three appliances and a rescue unit sent to the scene.

Fire crews were called just before 9am and, as of around 12.40pm, had left the scene.

A SFRS spokesman said: “We were alerted at 8.50am on Friday, September 2 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A82 near Luss. Operations Control mobilised three appliances and a heavy rescue unit to assist emergency service partners.

"A number of casualties were handed in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews are no longer at the scene.”
