Two pensioners in hospital with serious injuries after collision

Two elderly pedestrians have been hospitalised after a collision in Wigan.

Emergency services were scrambled to Swan Lane, in Hindley Green, just before 7pm last night (Monday October 18) after reports of a 'serious road traffic collision'.

A 91-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that a woman, 22, is in custody and helping police with their enquiries.

A GMP spokesman said: "Officers were called at about 6.55pm on Monday 18 October to a serious road traffic collision at Swan Lane, Hindley Green, Wigan.

"Two pedestrians, a man aged 91 and an 89-year-old woman, are in hospital with serious injuries.

"A 22-year-old woman is in custody and helping police with their enquiries."
