Two men died following a skydiving accident at Goulburn airport on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the facility, some 5km southeast of Goulburn, after being contacted at 12.50pm regarding an aircraft carrying two skydivers that was in difficulty, police said.
Two male parachutists, aged in their thirties, fell from the aircraft and landed near the airport's runway.
Police said the men were located unresponsive and were unable to be revived. Inspector Matt Hinton declined to say where the men were from at this stage.
Family members who were at the airport when the accident occurred, were distraught and were being comforted by police and airport staff.
Goulburn Airport and Adrenalin Skydive owner John Ferrara was also onsite but declined to comment until he knew more.
Ambulance, police, including police rescue, NSW Fire and Rescue and Polair attended the scene.
Wind was gusting at 39km/h at the time of the accident, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The circumstances of the accident will be investigated by Hume Police District officers and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. Australian Parachuting Federation investigators are en route.
The ATSB only investigates if the accident concerns the aircraft's operation. The Bureau is still gathering information.
Inspector Hinton said WorkSafe NSW had also been notified.
He described it as a "tragic accident."
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
It's the fourth skydiving fatality at the airport since November, 2015.
In that month, former elite soldier Tony Rokov died protecting the life of a 14-year-old boy in a tandem jump. Mr Rokov twisted his body to shield the boy after a freak wind collapsed their canopy.
In December, 2015 a 44-year-old Collaroy man died while competing in Skyplay.
