LOS ANGELES _ The disparity in talent between the Giants and Dodgers isn't always so clear.
There are games in which bullpen maestro Bruce Bochy showcases his classical talents; where his relievers hit all the right notes and his batters do just enough to create a soothing harmony.
There are also games in which the Dodgers drown out the sound with thunderous home runs that leave no doubt which team will be taking center stage in October.
The Giants may have won the first two games of this weekend's series in Los Angeles, but it was the Dodgers who roared loudest on Sunday in a 5-0 final.
Dodgers infielders Matt Beaty and Corey Seager each hit two-out home runs off starter Dereck Rodriguez while a Giants lineup that struggled for most of the weekend went down without a whimper in the series finale.
Bochy entered his final game at Dodger Stadium with a career record of 107-107 at Chavez Ravine, but he'll enter retirement with a sub-.500 mark in Los Angeles. Despite winning more games at Dodger Stadium than any visiting manager in the park's history, Bochy's last stand against the Giants' rival was a rather forgettable affair.
The Giants went 3-4 on a grueling seven-game road trip against two first-place clubs, the Cardinals and Dodgers, but San Francisco was shut out in three of its four losses and scored one run in its other defeat.
After tossing seven innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals in his last outing, Rodriguez began his afternoon by recording 11 outs without allowing a hit. A two-out walk to Dodgers slugger Cody Bellinger in the top of the fourth set up what appeared to be a more favorable matchup against Beaty, but the rookie third baseman crushed an 0-1 changeup into the visiting bullpen beyond the right field wall.
Rodriguez only allowed three hits in Sunday's game, but two left the ballpark. After second baseman Mauricio Dubon committed a fielding error on a Joc Pederson grounder with two outs in the fifth, Rodriguez left another changeup over the heart of the plate and Seager deposited it over the center field fence.
The Giants' inability to deliver with runners in scoring position was a theme this weekend, but their struggles came back to haunt them on Sunday. Catcher Buster Posey advanced to third base in the first inning and right fielder Jaylin Davis moved up to second base in the second, but the hitters behind them couldn't bring them home against Dodgers opener Julio Urias.
Urias appeared for just two innings in Sunday's game before Dodgers manager Dave Roberts turned to Kenta Maeda for the next four frames.
Bochy started right-handed hitters Donovan Solano and Austin Slater on the right side of the infield on Sunday, but both exited the game in favor of pinch-hitters Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt when Maeda took the mound in the top of the third.
Crawford and Belt combined to finish the game 0-for-5 with a walk, but the rest of the Giants' lineup wasn't much better. San Francisco recorded four hits in Sunday's defeat, two of which came from catcher Buster Posey.
