Two officers taken to hospital after police van on 999 call crashes with BMW

Two police officers have been taken to hospital after a force van collided with a BMW while responding to an "incident".

It has not yet been confirmed if any arrests have been made.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the officers had been taken to hospital as a precaution after the collision earlier this evening.

Their injuries are not believed to be serious and no one else was hurt, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The crash happened on Moss Bank Way, Bolton at around 7pm, which left the marked van on its side.

Pictures taken at the scene, at the junction with Blackburn Road, show a number of police vehicles in attendance.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 1900 hours on Monday 25 January 2021, police officers were responding to an incident whereby the police van was involved in a collision with a BMW at the junction of Moss Bank Way and Blackburn Road.

"The collision resulted in the police van tipping onto the driver's side.

"Both police officers have been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure however there are not believed to be any serious injuries.

"No other persons were injured during the collision."
