Two officers taken to hospital after crash between police van and BMW

Two police officers have been taken to hospital after a crash between a police van and BMW in Bolton.

The van ended up on its side after the collision on Moss Bank Way at around 7pm this evening (Monday).

It collided with the BMW car at the junction with Blackburn Road, police said.

Their injuries are not believed to be serious at this time.

No-one else was injured in the collision.

It has not yet been confirmed whether any arrests have been made.

Pictures taken at the scene show a number of police vehicles in attendance.

The police van can be seen tipped over onto its side in the middle of the road.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 1900 hours on Monday 25 January 2021, police officers were responding to an incident whereby the police van was involved in a collision with a BMW at the junction of Moss Bank Way and Blackburn Road.

"The collision resulted in the police van tipping onto the driver's side.

"Both police officers have been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure however there are not believed to be any serious injuries.

"No other persons were injured during the collision."
