Two Nottingham Subway have closed - but two new ones are opening

Fans of the Meatball Marinara and Spicy Italian face a trek to intu Victoria Centre or The Cornerhouse following the closure of two Subway sandwich shops in Nottingham city centre.

Shops in Hounds Gate and Long Row are now permanently closed. Neither reopened after lockdown restrictions were lifted for food and drink businesses in July.

However, two new branches of the build-your-own sandwich chain will be opening out of town.

One will be located at the new Beechdale Retail Park, which will also have a Lidl supermarket and Costa Coffee drive-thru, on the former site of Beechdale swimming baths.

A second will be in Edwalton, off Landmere Lane, where plans have been approved for a new Aldi supermarket and care home.

A Subway spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the Subway stores at Long Row and Hounds Gate have permanently closed.

"However, we are pleased to share that we are looking at opening two new stores in the Nottingham area at Landmere Lane and Beechdale Retail Park in the coming months to better service our loyal guests' changing lifestyles and greater demand for delivery services."
