Two new shops to take over old Top Shop store in Arndale

Two new shops are to move into the old Top Shop and Top Man in the Arndale Centre. The prominent ground and first floor shop has been empty since the Arcadia group went into liquidation in 2020.

But now it's been announced two new retailers have snapped up part of it. Shoe shop Clarks and lingerie retailer Gill Hicks are to move into two newly-created units.

It will be Gilly Hicks first Manchester shop and comes as its sister company Hollister announced it is to move into the old Disney store. Meanwhile a Pizza Hut Express takeaway is to also open in the Arndale Food Court, while mobile phone and electronic repairers iFix are also opening a branch in the mall and jewellery and glassware store Swarovski has also taken out a new lease.

Arndale bosses say it means the centre is now 95 per cent occupied. Arndale spokesperson Colin Flinn said: "Rather than try and re-let the whole of the former Topshop space, we made the decision to split the space, and create three new high-quality units in a prime location.

"This decision has proved correct as we have now secured two well-known tenants, with the last unit currently under offer, which shows that retailer demand for quality, well placed units remains high. We are equally pleased that Hollister and Swarovski have recommitted to Manchester Arndale, demonstrating confidence in the centre as we continue to attract and retain popular international brands and retailers."
