Two new restaurants in Scotland added to prestigious Michelin Guide

The latest additions to the Michelin Guide have been announced and two Scottish restaurants have made the cut.

KORA by Tom Kitchin and Shucks have been included in the November edition of the Michelin Inspectors' Favourite New Restaurants. Both eateries are among the 15 new additions across the UK to the acclaimed food guide.

Located in the vibrant Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh, KORA describes itself as "a local restaurant in every sense". You'll find Shucks in the west end of Glasgow where it opened earlier this year by the team behind Michelin-starred Cail Bruich.

KORA by Tom Kitchin

Named after the Greek goddess of Spring, the menu at KORA follows a nature-to-plate philosophy, serving up dishes inspired by the best of the land and sea in Scotland.

The Michelin Guide noted: "What was formerly Southside Scran has been reborn as Kora by Tom Kitchin: a brightly decorated, neighbourhood restaurant with a nature-to-plate philosophy. The extensive menu offers reimagined brasserie classics created from Scotland's bounteous larder."

The Edinburgh restaurant works closely with dedicated local farmers and foragers, passionate growers, and sustainable suppliers.

Looking at travel website TripAdvisor, it has earned highly positive reviews from customers, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on 31 reviews.

One visitor wrote: "This is an absolute gem! Great food, great drinks menu, great vibe and the staff were first class.

"Can not recommend highly enough. The Wagyu beef was outstanding along with the Panna Cotta, we were a party of 4 and not one complaint at all!"

Shucks

Shucks serves up delicious dishes such as champagne clams on sourdough (Shucks Glasgow)

Meanwhile, Shucks on Hyndland Road in Glasgow was also added to the distinguished food guide. Opened in March, the eatery is a relaxed restaurant and bar specialising in seafood.

It celebrates the Scottish coastline, serving up delicious dishes such as kingfish sashimi, crispy skin stone bass, and champagne moules frites.

The Michelin Guide said of the restaurant: "Sister to Cail Bruich and Brett, this professionally run, nautically-themed restaurant in the suburb of Hyndland is a great addition to the Glasgow dining scene.

"Assured, modern dishes showcase top quality Scottish seafood, so expect Shetland plaice or Gigha halibut on the bone."

Like KORA, it has earned positive reviews on TripAdvisor, with an average score of 4 out of 5 based on 33 reviews. One visitor wrote: "This is a wee gem of a place. Great, really great seafood. Fabulous service.

"Ticks all the boxes but then presses the button to overturn with the desserts. We shared the chocolate tart, served with a passion fruit coulis and a hazelnut ice cream.

"Without doubt the best dessert I have ever tasted and I have had my share! Superb!"
