Two new Covid deaths as cases fluctuate in Bristol region

Two new coronavirus deaths were recorded across the Bristol region as cases continue to fluctuate.

Bath and North East Somerset reported two new deaths in the last 24 hours.

No new deaths were reported in the City of Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire.

The City of Bristol has seen a slight rise in daily cases with 1,184 reported today compared to the 1,136 reported yesterday.

North Somerset saw a small jump from 455 cases to 513 and South Gloucestershire also rose from 621 daily cases yesterday to 637 today.

Bath and North East Somerset did however see a slight drop from 413 cases to 411 cases reported today.

It comes just a day after every area in the Bristol region reported a decline in daily coronavirus cases.

A further 178,250 coronavirus cases have also been confirmed in the UK in the last 24 hours.

Of those cases, 149,405 came from within England.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 37,428 (+411)

  • City of Bristol: 104,205 (+1,184)
  • North Somerset: 38,786 (+513)

  • South Gloucestershire: 58,515 (+637)

The number of deaths recorded in each area of Bristol since the beginning of the pandemic is as follows, with new deaths within 28 days of a positive test in brackets.

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 268 (+2)
  • City of Bristol: 608 (-)
  • North Somerset: 367 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 411 (-)
