Two motorists in hospital after 'dangerous driving' smash in Bolton

Two motorists have been taken to hospital following a crash in Bolton tonight.

Police and paramedics were called to Wigan Road at around 7.30pm after a collision involving a grey VW Golf and a white Audi A5.

The drivers of both cars were taken to hospital although their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the driver of the Golf, a man of 27, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Wigan Road remained closed tonight as the emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the incident.

Pictures from the scene showed the damaged Golf across the middle of Wigan Road.

A GMP spokesman said: "A grey VW Gold golf was in collision with a white Audi A5 on Wigan Road, Bolton at around 7.30pm on Sunday 7 March 2021.

"The driver of the Golf, a man aged 27, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

"He was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the Audi was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

"A road closure on Wigan Road is currently in place.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
