Two motorcylists killed in horror crash as police launch investigation

Two motorcyclists have died after a horror crash in Lanark.

At around 11am yesterday (Saturday, August 24) a westbound blue Yamaha motorcycle and a black Yamaha motorcycle travelling east, crashed on the A73 near to Hyndford Bridge, Lanark.

Emergency services rushed to attend the incident but both motorcyclists, aged 62 and 60, tragically died at the scene.

Police Scotland are now calling for anyone with information about the collision to come forward.

Sergeant Craig McDonald of the Roads Policing Unit, Motherwell, said:  "Unfortunately, despite the efforts of members of the public who stopped at the scene and the paramedics who attended, both men died at the site of the crash.

"We would ask that anyone who was in the area, especially those with dash-cams, who saw or who may have captured the incident on camera, contact police as soon as possible.

"Information can be provided to officers at Motherwell Police Office via 101. Please quote reference number 1716 of the 24 August 2019 when calling."
