Two Morrisons vans are torched at Scots store in 'suspicious' blaze

Two Morrisons vans were torched in a ‘suspicious’ blaze at one of the firm’s branches in Edinburgh.

Police were called to the Gilmerton Road store after reports of a fire at around 1.15am on Saturday.

Footage from the scene shows that the vehicles were completely destroyed in the incident.

Locals were also heard expressing their shock at the charred remains of the vehicles in the social media clip.

Edinburgh Live reports that Morrisons’ brought up replacement vans from Newcastle as staff continue on working despite the blaze.

Police Scotland has continued out a probe into the incident, which they believe to be ‘suspicious’.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 1.15am on Saturday, 24 July, officers were called to the Gilmerton Road area of Edinburgh, following a report of two vans on fire. The fires are believed to be suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.”
