Two more year groups at a secondary school in Newport have been told to self-isolate for two weeks after positive cases of coronavirus.
Years 10 and 12 in St Joseph's Roman Catholic High School in Duffryn have been told to self-isolate for the next two weeks after the school identified cases of the virus in both years.
The school has already previously asked years 7, 8 and 11 to self-isolate after positive cases were identified. The year groups are due to return to school on December 7, 10, and 9 respectively.
In a letter to parents on Sunday, December 6, the school's headteacher Mrs Jackie Jarrett said: "This morning, I was notified of a confirmed case of Covid-19 in year 10.
"In line with guidance and information from Welsh Government, Environmental Health and Newport City Council, pupils who have been identified as a close contact of the year 10 pupil will need to self-isolate.
"As your child was identified as a close contact, they should self-isolate up to and including Friday December 18.
"Your child should not return to school until Monday, 4 January 2021."
Mrs Jarrett also confirmed there was a case in year 12, saying in a separate letter on Sunday that the year group would also have to self-isolate until December 18, and would not return to school until January 4.
There are now five year groups in the school currently self-isolating due to positive cases. Years 7, 8 and 11 are due to return to school in the week commencing December 7.
