MUKDAHAN: Police have captured two more Muslim Uigurs two days after they fled the detention centre of the provincial immigration office.

Security authorities said they apprehended Memeth Ayiyen, 30, at Ban Na Po Noi in Muang district on Wednesday night after villagers alerted them about a man who couldn't speak Thai in their neighbourhood. He looked exhausted and asked for food.

Authorities captured another man identified only as Mutalip, 27, at a PTT petrol station, about one kilometre from the detention centre.

Seven Uigurs ran away on Tuesday night after an immigration policeman left the cell unlocked. Pol Col Komen Suphab, who is in charge of the immigration office in Mukdahan, was transferred on Wednesday for the security breach.
