Two more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals with coronavirus

Two more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,227, the latest NHS figures show.

In the last 24 hours, one coronavirus-related death was recorded at the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.

Another was recorded at the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Nationally, a further 11 people who tested positive for coronavirus died in hospitals in England.

The patients were aged between 69 and 98 and all had known underlying health conditions.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 29,687, according to NHS England.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Wednesday, September 16, currently stands at:

    • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 233
    • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
    • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 455
    • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
    • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 571
    • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
    • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 190
    • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 233
    • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 258
    • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
    • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 253

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24-hour period.

These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths and they do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
