Two more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19

Two more people have died in hospital in Greater Manchester after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,129, the latest NHS figures show.

Two further deaths were recorded by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

In the wider north west region, three people in total have been recorded as having died in the past 24 hours.

The daily figures released by NHS England do not include COVID-19 deaths recorded in care homes or other community settings.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Saturday, July 25, now stands at:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 226
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 444
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 556
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 179
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 222
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 215
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 253

Across the country, further 25 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,272.

The patients were aged between 52 and 93 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed the areas hit hardest by Covid deaths across our region earlier this week.

Chadderton in Oldham, Leigh East in Wigan and Higher Broughton in Salford have been hardest hit by Covid-19 tragedy in Greater Manchester

There were 31 deaths recorded in each area involving coronavirus over the three month period, the ONS data reveals.
