Two more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

Two more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals within 28 days of testing positive for covid-19.

It means the hospital death toll for our region now stands at 5,728.

In the last 24 hours Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust each recorded one more death.

Across England a further 76 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital.

It brings the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 85,310, NHS England said on Monday.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Monday, March 15, is:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 634

  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,136

  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6

  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,556

  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 8

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 492

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 539

  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 568

  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 28

  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 750

Nationally the patients were aged between 47 and 102 and all except one, aged 91, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between December 11 and March 14, with the majority being on or after March 11.
