Two more people die in Greater Manchester hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

Two more people have died after testing positive for coronavirus in Greater Manchester.

The region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,223, according to the latest NHS data.

One more Covid-related death was recorded at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.

Another death was also recorded at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

It emerged on Friday that more people had died of coronavirus in Tameside Hospital in one week than anywhere else in the country.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Saturday, September 12, currently stands at:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 233
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 455
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 571
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 189
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 232
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 256
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 253

Nationally, a further eight people, who tested positive for coronavirus died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,656.

Patients were aged between 61 and 91 years old, NHS England said. All had known underlying health conditions.
