Two more patients test positive for coronavirus in England

Two additional people have tested positive for coronavirus in the United Kingdom.

This brings the total number of cases in the UK to 15.

According to the Department of Health, the virus was passed on to the patients in Italy and Tenerife.

They have since been transferred to specialist NHS infection centres in Royal Liverpool Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital, London.

As concern over the virus grows, at least eight schools in the UK have been closed while others have sent home pupils who have travelled to affected areas.

It comes after travellers returning to the UK from northern Italy were told they may need to self-isolate as part of measures to stop the spread of illness.

On Thursday, Burbage Primary School, in Buxton, told parents the school would be closed for a deep clean after a confirmed case of the virus involving a parent.

It is not known if the parent has recently been to the school, which has around 350 pupils.

On Wednesday, American oil company Chevron sent home more than 300 workers from its Canary Wharf office after concerns that an employee may have the virus.

The patient reported flu-like symptoms upon returning from a country dealing with an outbreak.

This week, France reported its second death and the number of people in Italy with the virus continues to climb.

On Wednesday, authorities in Italy reported that the number of people infected in the country grew to 322, or up 45% in 24 hours.

The country confirmed 11 people had died as a result of the virus.

Austria, Croatia and Switzerland also reported their first cases linked to the outbreak in Italy, while Spain and France recorded new ones.

To date, no cases of the virus have been confirmed in Wales.
