Two more men arrested after dad killed in Greenock 'shooting'

A further two men have been arrested in connection with the death of Neil Canney who was allegedly gunned down on his Greenock doorstep last week.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged and is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today. Meanwhile a 27-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the death.

Neil was found seriously injured in Nairn Road at around 1.15am on Tuesday, February 28. The 37-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later.

It comes after Dale Russell, 28, and Jack Benson, 22, had previously been arrested and charged with murder following the incident.

Both have already appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court. They made no plea during the private hearing on Monday, March 6, after being charged by police over the weekend.
