Two more held in Haryana's Yamunanagar over burning of religious flag

YAMUNANAGAR: The police on Sunday arrested two more accused under charges of hurting sentiments allegedly by burning the religious flag displayed at the rooftop of a house in Bibipur village of Yamunanagar district.

The accused have been identified as Billu alias Hashim and Anish alias Kala, both residents of Bibipur village, said Buria police station house officer (SHO) Ishwar Chand.

The SHO said the main accused in this case, Wasim alias Tota was arrested on Saturday.

"The police arrested three accused in this case and efforts are being made to apprehend others", said SHO Ishwar.

On Friday, on the complaint of Satpal of Bibipur village, a case was registered against seven persons of Bibipur village under Sections 148, 149, 341, 323, 295-A, and 506 of the IPC at Buria police station.

Satpal alleged that accused threatened him and others with dire consequences if they put up religious flags and raised religious slogans in the village on April 6.

After the incident, several Hindu organisations staged the protest outside Buria police station, demanding the immediate arrest of accused people.
