Two more Dumfries and Galloway residents lose their lives to coronavirus

Two more people have died as a result of the coronavirus.

It takes the number of deaths in Dumfries and Galloway this year to 89 and the overall total to 168.

The figures from National Records of Scotland are based on the number of cases where coronavirus is mentioned on the death certificate.

By that method, there were 65 coronavirus deaths in Scotland last week, compared to 104 the week before.

It takes the overall total to 9,897.

That is different to the one released each day by the Scottish Government, which counts the number of people to have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

By that method, there had been 7,559 deaths in Scotland by 2pm yesterday.
