Two Chicagoans and a far west suburban resident each won $100,000 Monday in the state’s COVID-19 vaccine lottery, two days before the deadline to get vaccinated and be eligible for a chance to win a $1 million prize next week.
The two Chicagoans and a resident of St. Charles who were chosen in Monday’s drawing will be notified of their jackpots by phone, email or both. The Illinois Department of Public Health will call from (312) 814-3524 or send an email to the winners from DPH.communications@illinois.gov.
The lucky residents will have a week to claim their purse. Their names could be announced in eight days if they choose to go public though, so far, none of the previous winners have chosen to do so.
Monday’s drawing was the eighth in the lottery and the last before the state awards the two final $1 million jackpots to two vaccinated state residents and also doles out the remaining $150,000 scholarships to vaccinated kids ages 12 to 17 on Aug. 26.
The deadline to be vaccinated in time for that final drawing is Wednesday.
