Emergency vehicles outside Heathrow Terminal 3 on Sunday - (PA Wire)

Two more people have been arrested after two women were attacked with pepper spray and robbed of their suitcases at Heathrow Airport.

The incident on Sunday left 21 people needing treatment, including a three-year-old girl.

Metropolitan Police officers arrested a 31-year-old man close to the scene shortly after the attack on suspicion of robbery and assault.

He has since been released under investigation.

On Monday, the force said two further people had been arrested. A 24-year-old man was detained on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Both remain in custody.

Police were called to Heathrow’s terminal 3 shortly after 8am on Sunday following reports several people had been injured by a “noxious substance” believed to be pepper spray.

The Met said it had established that shortly before the assault, two women were robbed of their suitcases after stepping out of the multi-storey car park lift.

In total, 21 people were treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service after being affected by the pepper spray.

Five people were taken to hospital for further treatment, all of whom have since been discharged.

Enquiries by the Met are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the force’s investigation team on 101 quoting CAD 1803 7 DEC or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
