Two Michigan football commits pledge to change rivalry with Ohio State

Michigan football and empty promises seem to go hand in hand over the last decade or so. Time after time coaches, commits, and players vow to upend the fifteen or so year dominance Ohio State has had over its neighbors to the north. Yet seemingly every time, those promises fall well short, and often in embarrassing fashion.

So, you would think those coming in to try and change the tide for the Wolverine program would just let their play do the talking rather than falling into the same old pattern of promising things that have little chance of coming to pass.

But no. Two more Michigan pledges still haven’t learned and fell into the same tied trap once again according to our sister site Wolverines Wire.

Ohio native and three-star receiver Markus Allen got the pot all stirred up first by posting a graphic of the dominating run over the last ten years by Ohio State, with a comment noting, “This will be changed … Go Blue.”

To be fair, the run has been even better than that. The Buckeyes have actually won 15 of the last 16, but who’s counting.

Allen had some company too after he put his hopeless promise out there for the world to see. Four-star receiver Cristian Dixon provided some moral support by tweeting the same graphic with “remember I posted this” affixed to it.

So there it is. These two commits and the others that join them will have three, four, or — in some cases — five years to try and turn things around in the rivalry. If they do, they’ll be remembered for laying the gauntlet down. And if they don’t, they’ll be remembered for a whole host of other reasons by Ohio State fans.

And off we go again.
