Two men with blade threaten staff at Gateshead petrol station during armed robbery

Two men fled with money from a garage after threatening staff with a blade in Gateshead.

Shortly before 9.10pm on Saturday, police received a report of a robbery at the Jet petrol station on the A184 Felling Bypass near Wardley, Gateshead.

It was reported that two men entered the shop and threatened staff with a blade, before demanding money from the till.

The two men then fled the scene. Nobody was injured, but staff and a customer in the shop at the time were left shaken.

A number of police cars were seen at the garage on Saturday evening and the petrol station was closed for more than an hour.

An investigation has been launched by Northumbria Police, and officers are asking anyone with information to contact 101 quoting reference 1163 07/09/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
