Two men who knifed 16-year-old over a missing dog and left him for dead jailed

Two men have been jailed for a horrific knife attack on a 16-year-old boy which left him just seconds from death after a row over a missing dog.

The youngster, who has not been named, was left with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest following an argument in a park on October 22 last year.

A court heard the knife passed through the victim's throat and out the other side.

St Albans Crown Court heard the boy was also stabbed in the stomach, back and buttocks and left to bleed after his attackers fled.

Braydon Hall, 20, was jailed for 11 years after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon and Jake Grainger, 18, was jailed for six-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm.

A judge heard the horror attack took place in Rye Park, Hoddesdon, in Hertfordshire after the victim lost a Rottweiler dog he had been asked to look after.

The victim was taken to hospital by air ambulance and received life-saving treatment after being confronted by the two men.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "This was a shocking and isolated incident between parties who were known to each other.

"Those responsible were quickly identified, arrested and charged.

"Knife crime will not be tolerated in Hertfordshire and we do everything we can to bring those responsible to justice.

"A young man very nearly lost his life in this incident and was saved by the actions of members of public and health professionals at the scene.

"The victim spent a significant amount of time in hospital being treated for his injuries before being discharged, but he still lives with the trauma of what happened to him."

An indefinite restraining order has also been granted, preventing the pair from contacting the victim.
