Two men try to snatch young boy from street where he was playing

A nine-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted abduction in Tameside .

The child was reportedly grabbed by a man who tried to bundle him into a car on Sunday evening.

Thankfully the boy managed break free and escape.

Police say the incident happened at around 5.45pm on Queensway in Mossley .

The youngster had been playing on the street when a dark-coloured vehicle - possibly a W-plate - pulled up alongside him.

There were two men in the car, and one of them tried to grab hold of the child. The vehicle then drove off towards Regent Road.

An investigation is now underway, and anyone with information is being urged to contact police.

A spokesman for GMP said: "At around 5.45pm yesterday (Sunday, May 12) police were called to Queensway in Mossley, Tameside, to reports that two men in a dark coloured car possibly, W registered, had attempted to abduct a nine-year-old boy.

"The car was then seen to drive off towards Regent Road.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
