Two men tried to save teenager found unconscious at Seacroft bus stop

Quick thinking members of the public tried to save a 19-year-old woman who collapsed at a bus stop in east Leeds and later died in hospital.

Tracy Aitchison said she was driving the 16a to Pudsey when she saw the teenager on the floor, at a bus stop in South Parkway, Seacroft, at around 5.03am on Wednesday, February 19.

She told LeedsLive : "As I approached the bus stop I could see somebody laid on the floor.

"I let the passengers on the bus and I then went to the two gentleman who were with the young girl.

“One was giving CPR and the other was on the phone to the ambulance. I asked if there was anything I could do and a couple of minutes later the police arrived and took over.”

West Yorkshire Police say the was taken to hospital by ambulance but pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives have launched an investigation and are currently treating the death as "unexplained".

Lorraine Cook, who works at Coral opposite the scene, said: “I got to work at 7.30am and I thought ‘what the hell is going on now’.

“There’s always something going on round here.

“You see police wandering about but it’s mostly just PCSOs (police community support officers). It’s very rare you see anything like this.

"I’ve never seen police tape like this and I’ve been working here for two years.

“You just don’t want to come into work and see things like that.

“Customers have been coming in and asking what’s going on.”
