Two men 'threatened to kill' Arsenal star Mesut Ozil outside his north London home

Two men threatened to "kill" Mesut Ozil in a confrontation with the Arsenal player's security guards, a court was told today.

Ferhat Ercun and Salaman Ekinci deny behaving in a threatening or abusive manner outside Ozil's home in north London.

Per the Press Association, security guard Kemil Sezer said he had seen two men outside Ozil's house at 7:30pm on August 8 2019. The men returned three hours later.

He told Highbury Magistrates Court: "They swore in Turkish, saying 'f*** your mothers, we're going to f*** Mesut's mother and we're going to come back in five minutes and if security don't go from here, we're going to kill Mesut Ozil and kill you'.

"We started chasing them ... we got angry because Mesut Ozil, about two to three weeks prior, was attacked and we feared that the same thing would happen."

Sezer had been protecting Ozil after an unrelated attack several weeks earlier, in which the former Germany international and team-mate Sead Kolasinac had been ambushed by muggers who drove mopeds.

Ekinci and Ercun deny one count of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. The trial remains ongoing.
