Two men have been taken to hospital after their light plane crashed into a hangar in the South Australian coastal town of Goolwa.

The plane was coming into land at Goolwa Airport, an hour's drive south of Adelaide, when it ended up running into the side of the hangar around 11am today.

Authorities said there were two men on board, one aged in his 60s and one in his 30s.

The two men were able to get themselves out of the plane.

The man in his 30s was taken to hospital with a laceration to his foot, while the man in his 60s suffered head and abdominal injuries and was flown to Flinders Medical Centre in a serious but stable condition.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 11:00am this morning. (ABC News)

Goolwa CFS captain Darren Sanders said the plane damaged the rear of the hangar as well as partially damaging one of the planes inside.

"When our crews arrived on the scene there was fuel leaking out of the fuel tanks of the aircraft, and they had managed to secure that leak," he said.
