Two men taken to hospital after being attacked with a hammer in Wythenshawe

Two men have been taken to hospital following a hammer attack in Wythenshawe.

Police were originally called to reports of a stabbing on Eric Bullows Close in Woodhouse Park on Thursday (25 March).

A large number of emergency services responded to the incident at around 8.50pm.

Two men, aged 50 and 25, had been hit with a hammer, police said.

They were both taken to hospital with head injuries and have since been discharged.

An investigation has been launched by GMP, who say enquiries are ongoing.

No arrests have been made.

Local residents reported seeing a number of emergency vehicles on Eric Bullows Close following the incident.

An eyewitness described seeing police officers guarding a property on the housing estate throughout the day on Friday (26 March).

A spokesperson from GMP said: "Officers were called around 8.50pm on Thursday 25 March 2021 to Eric Bullows Close, Manchester to a report of a stabbing.

"Emergency services attended and enquiries established two men - aged 50 and 25 - had been hit by a hammer.

"They were taken to hospital with head injuries and have since both been discharged.

"Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made."
