Two men taken to hospital after Ardrossan attack

Two men were violently attacked in a North Ayrshire seaside town at the weekend.

The pair, aged 20 and 22, suffered serious injuries following the incident which took place in Ardrossan's South Crescent Road on Saturday night around 9.30pm.

Both men were subsequently taken to Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital for treatment, where one of them remains undergoing further evaluation.

Now Ayrshire police have appealed for the public's help in finding those who carried out the attack – describing what happened as a "frightening experience".

Detective Constable Fraser Murray, from Saltcoats CID, said: "This has been a frightening experience for the two men involved.

"The area was busy at the time of the attack and we are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the assault to contact us via 101 quoting incident reference number 4012 of 17 July."
