A man has been left with life-changing injuries after he was stabbed in Newry on Friday night.
Two men aged 22 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The 41-year-old victim sustained severe injuries to his leg and is due to undergo surgery today following what police described as a "savage attack".
The arrests followed the incident in a house on Talbot St in the city shortly after 10.30pm.
PSNI Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson said: "We were alerted by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service at 10:35pm to an incident in a house on Talbot Street where a man had been stabbed in his leg.
"Our officers attended the scene where they arrested two men, aged 22 and 35 years old, both on suspicion of attempted murder.
"The male victim, aged 41, was taken to hospital where he remains this morning undergoing surgery.
"The two men we arrested remain in custody as we continue with our enquiries.
"This was a savage attack which has left the victim with life changing injuries, and I want to appeal to anyone who was in the Talbot Street area last night, prior to or around the time the incident was reported to us, to get in touch.
"Anyone who has information which can help us establish what occurred is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 2031 of 24/01/20 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
