Two men suffer stab wounds during early morning disturbance in Kenton

Two men have been arrested following a disturbance in Kenton.

Emergency services were called to the area early on Thursday morning following reports of a dispute between two men.

Both men were found to have suffered stab wounds but neither were seriously injured.

The Great North Air Ambulance also attended the scene at Apsley Crescent but were stood down.

Northumbria Police say the pair were known to each other and have now been taken into custody.

One man was transported to hospital by police while the other was taken in an ambulance.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At about 7.45am police received a report of a disturbance at an address on Apsley Crescent in Kenton.

"Emergency services attended and found that two men who were known to each other had been involved in a dispute.

"That had resulted in both men suffering injuries consistent with a bladed article, however, neither of the men were seriously injured.

"The men involved have since been arrested by police and there is not believe to be any wider risk to the public.

"Anyone with information about the incident can contact police online at the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 and quoting log 171 10/09/20.”

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service added: "We dispatched a double-crewed ambulance, two Hazardous Area Response Teams and also requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

"One patient was treated at the scene and transported to hospital by police.

"A second patient was transported to the RVI by us."
