Two men 'stabbed pregnant teen to death because they wanted to see someone die'

Two men accused of murdering a pregnant teenager killed her because they wanted to watch someone die, prosecutors claim.

Maria, 18, was found stabbed to death at her home in Zinnowitz, Germany, by a concerned friend on Tuesday,March 19.

Four months on from the brutal attack, the public prosecutor has brought an indictment against the two suspects accused of murdering the young woman.

Public prosecutor Marc Engelhardt, accuses the two suspects, aged 19 and 21 years old, of 'jointly killing out of a desire for murder and malice'.

It is claimed the younger of the pair brutally stabbed Maria, while the older suspect held her down.

The prosecutor added: "The pair met up and deliberately chose their victim as they wanted to see how a person dies."

The pair, who fled after allegedly murdering Maria, were arrested mid-April.

Investigations continue and prosecutors believe the trial will begin at the start of September.

Mayor Peter Usemann said that he was "shocked" by the murder in his sleepy spa town of just 4,000 residents.

According to the police, Maria was stabbed to death in the house where she lived alone.

Before the men's arrest, Maria's desperate mother Steffi had said that she "has no strength left" and was desperate for a breakthrough in the case.

She said: "The only thing I want is for them to finally capture the perpetrator.

"I would have been a grandmother soon.

"Maria's pregnancy was approaching the fourth month."

Steffi added: "I still remember the happiness I felt when I finally became pregnant with Maria at the age of 29.

"My parents and my grandmother were so overjoyed.

"She was such a lovely baby."

Maria's young brothers, aged 10 and five, are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their sister, their mother added.

Steffi said: "They often ask about her. I told them that an evil person took Maria from us forever."

The German mother was reportedly rushed to hospital in shock after learning about her daughter's tragic death, but she now tries to remain as strong as she can for her two surviving sons.

Maria's 16-year-old boyfriend Alex, who was the father of her unborn child, told local media: "I want to look the perpetrator in the eye and ask him why he took two lives."
