Two men stabbed in 'mass brawl' outside Scots hotel as horrified staff 'forced to barricade doors'

A major police probe has been launched after two men were stabbed during a 'large-scale rammy' outside a Scots hotel.

Police were called to the car park of the Rosslea Hotel in Rhu, Argyll and Bute, at around 10pm on Saturday after the violent scenes erupted.

A source claims that two men were injured with a bladed weapon during the incident which left onlookers horrified and some in tears.

Police were called to the Rosslea Hotel on Saturday night (UGC)

An eyewitness told the Daily Record that staff were forced to lock the hotel doors in a bid to keep the brawling crowd outside.

They said: “It was like a scene out of Shameless.

“There were about 40 people brawling in the car park and it was really nasty. It was the biggest rammy I’ve ever seen.

“The staff were forced to lock the doors to keep everyone inside safe and the people fighting out.

“There was a really sad event taking place at the hotel at the time before this just erupted and two people got stabbed.”

Officers were called at around 10pm following reports of a disturbance in the hotel's car park (UGC)

It is understood that friends and family of tragic Helensburgh teenager Jamie Haughie were in attendance at the hotel for a memorial event when the fight broke out.

The 17-year-old, who has been described as the “nicest wee guy”, passed away suddenly in his sleep earlier this month leaving his loved ones shattered by his death.

A 27-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment while a 42-year-old was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police Scotland say that the injuries the stab victims sustained during the disturbance are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

Detective Inspector Fiona Macarthur, of Dumbarton CID, said: "We know the hotel area would have been relatively busy at the time and the consequences of this incident could have been far worse.

"We're appealing to people who witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to contact us."
