Two men critically injured after shooting at remote property in NSW Hunter

Paramedics treated the men at the scene before they were taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter.

Two men, who police believe are stepbrothers, have been taken to hospital with critical injuries after a shooting on a remote property in the NSW Hunter region.

Police were called to a property at Bingleburra Road, Bingleburra, after reports of a shooting at about midday.

One man, aged 35, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest.

The younger man, aged 28, had run away from the scene but was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his head.

It is believed the men were attending a family gathering when the shootings occurred.

The two men were treated at the scene by NSW ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

Both men are in a critical condition, a spokeswoman for NSW Health said.

Police from the Port Stephens-Hunter district have set up a crime scene and are investigating what happened.

Police are describing the incident as domestic-related.
