Two men scramble to safety after car ploughs into canal in Littleborough

No one was injured when a car ploughed into a canal following a crash in Rochdale, police have confirmed.

The drama unfolded on Canal Street in Littleborough at about 9.30pm on Thursday night.

A car ended up in the water after a crash, police confirmed.

However thankfully no one was hurt they said.

Two people in the car managed to safely free themselves from the vehicle, they added.

Canal Street was closed close to where it becomes Hollingworth Road whilst police dealt with the aftermath.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "Officers attended and established that a Road Traffic Collision had occurred, with a vehicle ending up in the canal.

"No injuries were reported.

"Two male occupants safely exited the vehicle."
