Two men rushed to hospital with serious injuries after Motherwell crash

Two men have been hospitalised with serious injuries after a horror car smash in Motherwell.

A 25-year-old man was driving a Ford Mondeo on the A706 when he collided with a 17-year-old behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa on Monday night.

The two drivers were rushed to the University Hospital of Wishaw where they are now being treated.

Both casualties remain in a serious condition.

The alarm was raised at around 10.40pm as emergency services raced to the scene and closed off part of the road.

An investigation has now been launched as detectives appeal for information.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 2240hrs on Monday evening, a 25 year-old man was driving a Ford Mondeo North east on the A706 when the vehicle was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa being driven South west by a 17 year-old man.

"Emergency services attended and both drivers were taken to the University Hospital of Wishaw where they are being treated for their injuries.

"Both drivers remain in a serious condition.

"Sergeant Gemma Blackadder of the Road Policing Unit at Motherwell is appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information to contact her office through 101 quoting reference number 3752 of 29th June 2020."
