Two men rushed to hospital in Edinburgh as locals report 'people in pools of blood'

Two men have been taken to hospital today after a disturbance in on an Edinburgh street.

Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service  raced to West Richmond Street in the Southside suburb shortly before 3pm, October 16.

Officers from Police Scotland assured the public there was no risk following the incident.

An eyewitness told our sister site Edinburgh Live: "Tons of police cars, vans and ambulances, can see the house number from my house number, road has been closed off, people in pools of blood."

There were reports of traffic delays and bus diversions as police sealed off the street.

Forensic teams have been spotted on the residential street as police tape seals off the area around the incident.

Items of clothing can also been strewn across the pavement as officers stand guard.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The incident occurred at around 1.40pm (Friday, 16, October).

"Police received a report of a disturbance resulting in two men being injured.

"The men have been taken to hospital and police are still at the scene.

"Enquiries are still ongoing to establish what happened."
