Two men have been rushed to Crosshouse Hospital following a road crash in Ayrshire this morning.

Police were called to the A71 near East Holmes Farm between Galston and Hurlford after a van and a car collided shortly after 10am.

Officers closed the road for three-and-a-half hours with emergency services dispatched to the scene.

The condition of the two men involved – both drivers – is not known at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles – a car and a van – on the A71 near East Holmes Farm between Galston and Hurlford around 10.10am on Monday, December 7.

"Two men, the drivers of both vehicles involved, were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment.

"The road reopened around 1.40pm."
